"For two months of the year, Barcelona shines with all the splendour of the Mediterranean. Those weeks when the weather is fine, the sun warms without burning and you eat the first and last ice cream of the season. Midday outside and suddenly a breeze comes in from the sea, salty and bracing, wraps around you and drugs your senses. It is like a tribal call: you would drop everything and go down to salute the sea, the ships arriving in the port and the beach, still deserted."
